Synopsis
Just as the flamenco guitar player is "tocaó" and the singer is "cantaó", the plastic artist Patricio Hidalgo claims the name "pintaó". This book is a compilation of his flamenco, avant-garde and popular art, which collects and reveals the enigma of singing, playing and dancing, through portraits of artists, both legendary and anonymous. His works are full of beauty, emotion, expression and lucidity.
About the author
The visual artist Patricio Hidalgo (Ibiza, 1979) offers in this book a broad and significant sample of his dazzling work as a painter. A multifaceted and multidisciplinary creator, an extraordinary updater and renovator of flamenco aesthetics, he shares with us a compilation of his flamenco art, both avant-garde and popular, in which he reflects and reveals the enigmatic truth of singing, playing, and dancing, and he does so through unforgettable portraits of living and dead artists, both legendary and anonymous, and scenes that stop time and embody their enigma in gesture and grace, in screams and silence. Beauty, emotion, limitless expression, lucidity. Flamenco Figures also contains an exhaustive prologue by Miguel Ángel Rivero Gómez, flamenco lyrics written jointly by David Eloy Rodríguez and José María Gómez Valero and a poem by Karen Elizabeth Bishop, links to flamenco video creations made by the artist himself, a representation of his collaborations with Murdo Ortiz, as well as a complete interview.
