Synopsis
This study is seen from a new theoretical framework for flamencology, such as the historiographical and critical analysis of the conceptualizations of race. How does blackness dance flamenco? Or, how does the construction of race unfold in the Atlantic world within flamenco dance? The book is divided into two parts. The first focuses on the arrival of blackness in Spanish dance and music through the Indian fandangos. In the second, he deals with three key elements in the history of flamenco: The work "El tío Caniyitas", the figure of the black Meric, the protagonist of one of the first flamenco films in history, and the blackness of the body of Juana Vargas La Macarrona.
