Painting "María Soleá", part of Martín Merino's new collection.
Martín Merino Román, artistic painter, was born in 1945 in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz). Almost a child, he trained at the School of Arts and Trades in his hometown. He belongs to a generation that was trained in the so-called auxiliary wine industry that required graphic arts. There he acquired great skill as a draftsman, a quality that led him to work in companies in this branch such as the demanding Jerez Industrial. A great foundation for undertaking, at a certain age, his transition to painting. As the art critic Bernardo Palomo notes: 'his work is based on that determining drawing that structures any good project. For this reason, his portraits are very well composed works, narrating a reality that the author dominates to carry it out with just the right precision'. This gallery dedicated to figures of the flamenco art 'Flamencos de mi tierra' is a clear example of the quality and skill that its author possesses.
