The son of an amateur guitarist, Hidalgo lives between Seville and La Puebla de Cazalla (Seville), a town that is a stronghold of the deepest flamenco, and he himself wanted to be a dancer and guitarist - his teacher, in Morón de la Frontera (Seville) was Paco del Gastor - until life put him in the dilemma of choosing between "the guitar or the brushes."
His works are distinguished by the speed of execution ; he is more interested in gesture than in physiognomy: "It's like when you walk down the street and you recognize someone by a gesture, not by their figure; movement is what gives life," says the artist who, to portray artists who no longer belong to the realm of the living, uses videos in search of their "gestures", their style, their character.
