T-shirt decorated with a drawing by the painter Patricio Hidalgo , the "painter" of flamenco.

The drawings and paintings of Patricio Hidalgo ( Ibiza , 1979) , a multifaceted and multidisciplinary creator, are avant-garde and popular, abstract and figurative, but always seek to capture the essence of flamenco art and the character of flamenco artists, who have ended up calling him a 'painter'.

The son of an amateur guitarist, Hidalgo lives between Seville and La Puebla de Cazalla (Seville), a town that is a refuge for the deepest flamenco, and he himself wanted to be a dancer and guitarist - his teacher, in Morón de la Frontera (Seville) was Paco del Gastor - until life put him in the dilemma of choosing between "the guitar or the paintbrushes". His works are distinguished by the speed of execution , more than the physiognomy he is interested in the gesture: "It's like when you walk down the street and you recognize someone by a gesture, not by their figure; movement is what gives life," says the artist who, to portray artists who no longer belong to the realm of the living, resorts to videos in search of their "gestures", their style, their character. more...

José Menese Scott, a non-Spanish singer, better known in the world of flamenco by his stage name José Menese, was born in La Puebla de Cazalla (Seville) in 1942. From a very young age he used to sing among friends in his hometown. He came to Madrid on the initiative of his fellow countryman, the painter and lyricist Francisco Moreno Galván, who introduced him to a number of writers and artists, who, upon hearing him, supported his future and spread his artistic qualities. In 1963, he became part of the cast of the Tablao Zambra, together with Pericón de Cadiz, Perico el del Lunar, Rafael Romero, Juan Varea and Rosa Duran. His first album, with lyrics by Moreno Galván, like all his later ones and with a profound social content, was awarded the National Album Prize by the Chair of Flamencology and Andalusian Folklore Studies of Jerez de la Frontera. In the National Flamenco Art Competition of Córdoba in 1965, he received the Tomás El Nitri Honorary Award. And from this event onwards, he became one of the most outstanding figures of the Andalusian festivals. Among the awards that have been granted to him, in addition to those already mentioned, are the Marbella seguiriyas award, 1966; Mairena del Alcor award, 1967; Popular award from the newspaper Pueblo, 1968; Saeta de Oro from Seville, 1969; Taranta de Oró from Almería, 1971, National Singing Award from the Chair of Flamencology, 1974 and Cabal de Plata, by popular vote, from Radio Nacional, 1987. He died on July 29, 2016.
