ZOILO MILLAN ORTEGA

Born in the neighboring town of Chipiona in 1959, at the age of two he moved with his family to Sanlúcar de Barrameda, where he still lives and runs his painting studio, he is the son and disciple of the now unfortunately deceased Manuel Ventura Millan Rodriguez, Zoilo is the greatest exponent of the Millanes pictorial school, founded by his father, also mentioning his late brother Manuel Millan Ortega, a great painter who has left his mark on the world of art, but the Millanes school It is still alive and in all its splendor in the hands of Zoilo Millan.

Zoilo Millán creates homely environments, mainly Andalusian patios, where color and shapes must fight hard to survive in the face of the antagonism of the flashing light and the penumbra created by the walls. The exquisite balance of light and shadow gives his paintings a peculiar perspective, creating a certain sense of familiarity in the chosen area.

Zoilo Millán is realistic, more affirmative. Its theme includes places and people. It is like an environmental chronicle in a certain framework in which architecture has a lot to say because it is a human sphere. Rural landscapes villages of lower Andalusia; open windows, with flower pots; stairs and more pots. Because it is spring painting insofar as all of it is a sprout of hope. They are simple lines that are filled with notes, it is a mature work, made with intelligence.
