Synopsis
The aesthetics of the woman dancing alone, playing with the hat, dancing without castanets, holding on to the skirt and using a shawl for the dance, are some of the elements that will later become part of flamenco aesthetics.
This text is an invitation to discover the mysteries of a dance that we all have in our vocabulary, but of which most of its origin and development is unknown. The author takes us to this discovery on a very enjoyable journey that takes place from the 19th century to the present day, and in which, collaterally, we can also discover aspects of Spanish Dance, until now little studied, and which leave open new areas of research.
The prologue was written by journalist and dance critic Marta Benítez Carrasco in which she comments:
“El Vito The construction of a flamenco symbol”, It is a happy invitation to discover the mysteries of a dance that we all have in our vocabulary, but of which most of its origin and development is unknown. Gabriel Arango takes us to this discovery in an entertaining journey that takes us from the 19th century to the present day, and in which, collaterally, we can also discover aspects of Spanish Dance that have been little studied until now and that leave open new areas of research.
The author finally offers us some conclusions based on the data developed in this volume, with the generosity that they can be put up for debate, as always happens in the world of Dance, a debate that on this occasion can start from facts verified in a rigorous and academic manner .
