Synopsis
The popular song known as malagueña was born at the end of the 18th century as an evolution of the fandango. From the beginning, it has been linked to dance, but as it slowly adapted to flamenco, it abandoned the rhythm in favour of the vocal brilliance of the performers.
Over the years, the malagueña has branched out into a wide range of styles. Only voices such as that of Don Antonio Chacón, among others, have consolidated it.
