Synopsis
Gabriel Vaudagna Arango proposes a reflection on flamenco dance in the current scene and a historical review from the first dancers. It also contains a didactic section to be used as a tool for teachers and students. He himself tells us that “the main objective of the book is to bring clarity. It also has to do with many years of banging my head against the wall, of going to teachers who did not explain anything to you. I took the trouble to put together a didactic system so that, through listening to the singing, you can understand where the dancer comes out to dance, where they make the sounds of the footwork and where they do not. Post Flamenco means what comes after flamenco. Once flamenco dance emerges as a show, in the mid-1800s, many artists begin to take it to the theater and what is seen in the theater is very different from what was done in the tablao. So, brought to the present, what I do is change the question, instead of saying what is flamenco, I ask when is there flamenco, that is, I begin to analyze certain elements that happen in the scene, that make the spectator see flamenco.
